Most people use Claude like a search box. The people who get 10x more out of it reuse a small set of sharp, repeatable prompts. Here are the ones worth memorizing, grouped by what you’re trying to do. Copy any of them and swap in your specifics.
Thinking & deciding
Make the strongest possible case for [decision]. Then list the three reasons it could be wrong.
Compare [options] across [criteria] in a table. Add a final column with your recommendation and why.
Here's my plan: [paste]. What's the most likely failure mode I haven't accounted for?
Writing & editing
Cut this by 30% without losing meaning. Keep my voice. Show only the rewrite.
Here are two things I've written: [paste]. Rewrite the draft below to sound like me.
Turn these bullets into a [email/post]. Tone: [direct/warm]. Length: [short].
Learning fast
Explain [topic] to someone with [background]. Use one concrete example, no jargon.

Building & doing
Before writing anything, outline your approach in steps and wait for me to approve.

Pro moves
- Front-load context: open with who you are and what “good” looks like, then the task.
- Ask for the format you want (table, bullets, code block) — Claude defaults to prose otherwise.
- Tell it to push back: “If this is the wrong approach, say so before doing it.” Turns yes-man into advisor.
