Claude Corps embeds trained fellows inside mission-driven nonprofits — conservation groups, food banks, refugee support, museums, mental health services — to build the AI tools and systems those teams need but usually can’t resource.
It’s a partnership: Anthropic funds it and provides Claude expertise, CodePath (the country’s largest provider of collegiate computer science education) is the official employer and runs the training, and Social Finance leads measurement. The goal is two-sided: nonprofits get real capability, and fellows walk away with AI skills that carry their careers forward.
Who can apply
Anyone over 18 with under two years of full-time work experience — regardless of educational background. The only hard requirements are that you’re authorized to work in the US, comfortable working with Claude, and willing to relocate if needed (relocation support is available).
Selection is based on your experience with AI, communication skills, and motivation to work on societal challenges — not credentials.
What you’d actually do (and earn)
Each fellowship is 12 months, full-time. You start with an intensive training program — prompt design, building with Claude and the Anthropic API, and running AI evaluations — then get matched to a host nonprofit.
Once placed, about five hours a week stay dedicated to ongoing training; the rest of your time goes to your host’s projects. You receive:
- $85,000 salary with full benefits as a CodePath employee
- An expansive Claude token budget
- A CodePath mentor and office hours with Anthropic for technical questions
- Guidance from a manager at your host organization
How it works — three steps
- Apply — applications are open now; the first cohort closes July 17, 2026.
- Match — you interview with host organizations based on project fit, geography, and mutual interest.
- Build — you spend the next year embedded with your host, shipping real tools alongside their team.

- First cohort: ~100 fellows — applications close July 17, 2026, program starts October 2026.
- Next two cohorts: rolling applications, starting January 2027 and August 2027.
- Host organizations: applications open now for all start dates.

At least 400 nonprofits will host fellows. Early confirmed hosts include:
- International Rescue Committee, RAINN, Year Up United
- Braven, Code the Dream, Code for America
- Goodwill Industries International, StriveTogether, Team Red White & Blue
- REEF (marine conservation), Montgomery County Food Bank, several YMCAs

Should you apply? My take
If you’re early in your career, curious about AI, and want work that means something, this is one of the most generous on-ramps I’ve seen — paid training from the people who build Claude, a real salary, and a year of hands-on experience, with no degree gate.
The tradeoffs to weigh: it’s full-time and in person for a year, and you may need to relocate. If that fits your life right now, it’s worth an application before July 17.
